You brought a Dream to Life!
As a kid.. born in the Heights of Jersey City... I'd spend my spare time ,playing your albums on my tiny record-player.My bedroom was my stage..my younger brother & sister were forced to be my back-up!! And for hours on end,I was the lead singer for The Duprees. That's got to be one of my happiest memories!
Over a year ago, you did a concert at Riggen Memorial Field in East Rutherford, N.J..Little did I know..my dream would become a reality..that very night.
I don't know how Tony spotted me in the stands...it could've been my singing and acting out the moves to each song as I sat watching the show!!But,
I was chosen for "Love Eye's." I couldn't believe it!!I was thrilled!! Me, surrounded by the Men I've loved for so long!!
After a few bars of Love Eye's, which Tommy sings beautifully...I walked over and placed myself amongst Phillie, Jimmy & Tony. I became a Dupree!! I sang & went through all the motions..just as I did when I dreamed of being a Dupree. I couldn't help myself...after all..I'd practiced for years!! It was a blast!!
For a brief moment in time..my dream came true.
You will never know what that night meant to me. I will never forget how happy I was to be standing with 4 men with whom I've made memories for so many years.
To this day , whenever my family hears any of your song's..especially "My Own True Love" which is my favorite ..they'll say..
"Patricia,we could see you standing in the mirror...your record-player on full volume..your face so serious, hair in hand as a microphone , forcing us to sing back-up..instead of our doing homework!!...as you mouthed the words to every song on those 2 33's you had. Always with Love In Your Eyes."
Although, I've lost my back-up..whenever I hear your songs..I become that kid , in my bedroom time & time again..I'm a Dupree!!
From my heart, Thank You so much for "Our" moment in time!!
